BIBS' Cherry Girl
It's always been a dream of mine to build a panhead chopper.... for me instead of someone else! So, I set out to do just that. The Red Bitch was out of commission so I started doin some scheme'n
The end result of such was using the motor, transmission and frame from the old girl....and adding a little more fire power to the motor. One thing led to another... I tore the old girl right down to the bone
....some of the drunks I ride with threatend to brake my legs
...but um still walkin!! hahaha!
I gotta admit, I miss the old girl and at one time I was offered 15K for her!! Oh well she wasn't a real Harley and that fooled a lot of guys! She was almost entirely aftermarket for the exception of some sheetmetal and a few internal motor parts.
I figure, one day I'll come across the real thing... 'bout a 58-64 duo-glide that is original....something I only have to maintain
Cherry girl is my last build for myself....there'll be others for other people.....but not for sometime to come.
Here is some info about Cherry Girl:
The motor is stock bore and stroke with STD heads.....Manley valves, S&S triple wound springs shovel style intake, panhead style exhaust and paughco mufflers. The compression is around 9.7-1, using K&B pistons, electronic igniton, leinweber cam, velva touch lifters, blocks and push rods, baisley roller tip rocker arms...I'm runnin overhead oilers and overhead oil drains....the oil pump is an S&S billet oil pump. The trans is a stock fl box 36-64 style with stock gearing. I've got hydraulic brakes rear and disc up front via jaybrake two-piston caliper and master cylinder.
The front wheel is a stock HD item 21" and the front end is a stock length tube front end.
The chain is a tsubaki unit, graphite treated and the frame is a v-twin replica 53-54 model year with a few tabs removed....and a few added on
Gudgeon powder coated the frame.....and I highly recommend him for all your powdercoating needs!!!
Last but not least is the 9" solo seat with 5" springs to support my old dead ass.....she ride half decent too!!
I hope you all enjoy 'er and my hats off to tam for him taking his busy time to make this write up available to you all!!!
Regards to all,
Dave (BIBS)
